APRIL 2010

From a Club to a Family
When I joined 20-30, what I expected to get out of it was much different than what I ended up getting.  I joined to network and maybe to make a few new friends.

Five years later I have received more than I could have ever imagined.  I have friends so close that I consider them as much family as anyone.  It all started when my club offered to host a National Midterm meeting.  When I arrived at the meeting the only people I knew were the members of my club.  I made many new friends that day and it motivated me to make visitations to the clubs of these new friends. This generated more friends and the cycle was started.

I would attend an event or convention and make more friends and that would make me want to travel more.  I went from not knowing anyone, to the feeling that I know at least someone from every club.  As I met more and more motivated, like-minded people, I became more motivated to go back to my club and continue working to make my club the best it can be.

So what am I trying to say?  If you don’t ever leave the safety of your own club, you are missing a significant part of what it means to be in Active 20-30.  Go to a neighboring club’s meeting, go to a Regional or National meeting, and whatever you do - go to convention!!!

I hope to see you all soon.
Yours in service,

Mikey Stewart
