President-Elect

An open letter from your National President-Elect

August, 2010

First, I would like to thank each of you for your involvement in Active 20-30 and for the passion you bring to your local clubs, neighboring clubs and the national association. It is solely because of the work of our members that we are able to continue supporting emerging leaders and an ever-growing volume of kids. It’s easy to get bogged down in the activities of everyday life, so please take a minute to reflect on the individual contributions you have made and continue to make.

This is a time of change and maturation for the club nationally. We are growing in terms of membership – consistently adding new clubs and new members. We are also growing as people. We’re formalizing processes and documenting best practices. We’re sharing ideas and questioning old habits. As you’ve heard over and over, this is our club, collectively. We have nearly 1,200 stakeholders who each have a voice and I encourage each of you to use yours.

Mike and I have been working closely together and with each of your National Directors to identify ways to improve the organization and meet the needs and requests of our members. This will be a long process and continue well beyond when we each leave office, but one marked with steady progress. We have promised open communication. To help achieve that, club presidents have been invited to the national board calls and the national blog will be peppered with ‘behind the scenes’ glances of what your board is working on.

Thank you for putting your faith in me and my fellow national board members. Thank you, too, for your questions, challenges and ideas.

Trena
