I want to thank you all for giving me the opportunity to be your National President-Elect. I look forward to working hard with this year and next year's board members to help grow our organization.Las Vegas was a great convention. It was wonderful to see old faces and to meet new ones. For all of you who attended, thank you for joining us, I hope you got as much out of the convention as I did. For those of you who did not attend, I look forward to seeing you at next year’s convention in Cabo San Lucas. As I mentioned in my speech at the AGM, we need your help. “Nationals” is not just some nebulous entity out there. The national board is made up of a group of volunteers, just like you, who have made the growth and development of our organization a priority. We have stepped beyond the bounds of our own clubs to attempt to help even more children on a national and even international level. When we reach out to your club, give us feed back. It is the only way we have of finding out how to better assist your club. When I joined the Santa Rosa club in 1999, a now past active member, Ken LaFranchi made a statement to me that has stuck all these years: “Make sure that you replace yourself in this club” he said. “I don’t mean that you should just sponsor a new member, I mean that you should sponsor a member who is going to be as good a member and contribute as much or more to the club than you have”. I now challenge each of you to replace yourselves. As you all know, we “graduate” the top 5-10% of our organization every year. In order to grow our clubs at a 5% rate, we need to add 10-15% to our membership every single year. The same is true for every club across the nation. We need to reengage each club to focus on growth, not only of their own club, but of the organization. When I joined this organization, we had 51 clubs in two countries, today we have 40 clubs. We have chartered hundreds of clubs during the existence of our organization, again, today we have 40. We need the help of each and every member of every club in order to grow and develop. Currently, Trish Sweeney and the charter committee are actively seeking areas for us to develop new clubs. We have had requests for information on how to charter a club from Atlanta, the Twin Cities, Corvallis, El Paso, San Francisco, Palo Alto, Stockton, and many more. Do you have friends who should be in Active 20-30 but don’t have a local club? Get them in touch with us and let’s get a new club put together in their area. As the saying in my club goes: you get out of 20-30 what you put into it.
