Even in a down economy, some are spending to make our community better.
The Kansas Children's Discovery Center got a big boost today when the Topeka Active 20-30 Club donated 35,000 dollars.
Construction on the center is underway.
Some children put their hands in commemorative concrete squares donated by Concrete Unlimited.
Those squares will be placed in the Outdoor Learning Environment section of the Discovery Center.
"The Discovery Center is going to be an incredible asset for our region, we're really thrilled that everything's going so well and we're still on schedule to be open next Spring, and people are generously continuing to give support to help complete as much of the outdoor learning environment as possible," says Executive Director Joanne Morrell.
The Discovery Center will help children with math, science and the arts.
It's scheduled to open by next Summer.
