Napa Valley Basketball Alliance summer team assessments set for Monday, Wednesday
The Napa Valley Basketball Alliance, an AAU team for sixth- and seventh-grade boys sponsored by the Napa Active 20-30 Club, will hold assessments for the upcoming summer teams on May 16 and 18 at Silverado Middle School.
They will be held in the new gym from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Newly registering players should arrive at 5:45 p.m. to complete a registration form.
Players attending the assessment must be registered with the AAU. Those not already registered should visit www.aausports.org and join as a Youth Athlete for the $14 extended coverage (AB).
Membership cards should be brought to the assessment. This membership fee is non-refundable. Practices will be Mondays and Wednesdays at Silverado Middle School from 6 to 7:30 p.m., starting June 6 and ending July 27.
The team plans to play in two Saturday tournaments in July. Tournament cost are separate and will be collected prior to tournaments at an average cost of $30 per tournament.
The objective of the NVBA is to provide quality instruction aimed at developing young basketball players in a competitive environment.

Napa High School spiritleader tryout clinic May 21-25
Do you want to be part of the 24-time national champion Napa High School spiritleader team? Tryout clinic information packets are now available.
To receive your packet, pick one up at the NHS Activities Office or e-mail Julie Bryant at juliebryant20@sbcglobal.net. This is also a four-day dance clinic available to sixth though 12th graders interested in learning new dance skills and great dance routines.

Nomination deadline for NVC Athletic Hall of Fame June 1
Napa Valley College is accepting nominations for its inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame, with the deadline of June 1 to nominate and a social hour, dinner and awards program to honor the first class on Oct. 1 at Embassy Suites in Napa.
The nomination form can be found on the Napa Valley College website, www.napavalley.edu, by going to the athletics link, then clicking on the Hall of Fame link and the 2011 nomination form.
The primary goals of the Napa Valley College Athletic Hall of Fame are to recognize individuals for outstanding athletic contribution and/or participation at Napa Valley College and to illuminate the athletic tradition at NVC.
The primary criterion for induction is athletic participation in at least one full season of sport, coach, and/or contribution to the athletic department. Supporting documentation must include athletic participation information, coaching information, service contribution, professional/employment activities, community service and involvement.

Chief and Roxie Green Scholarship Golf Tourney June 5
The fourth annual Chief & Roxie Green Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament is June 5 at Napa Golf Course at Kennedy Park. It’s a 10 a.m. start.
This tournament benefits two scholar-athletes at Napa High School, with the hope that they will continue their education, and possibly their athletic ability at the next level.
Along with the golf, there are many enticing raffle prizes, a barbecue lunch and beverages. The cost per player is $95, which includes cart, long and short drives, and closest and farthest from the pin prizes. A women’s division is strongly encouraged. The format is a four-person scramble, along with first- and second-place team prizes. The lunch-only fee is $20.
